The Royal Crown Baby Shawl
We are proud and honoured to bring you ‘The Royal Crown Baby Shawl’ to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee year.
This exquisite shawl has been introduced to our collection as a special tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, during the year in which she celebrates becoming the first British monarch to reign for 70 years.
The pretty lace design features a crown inspired by the St Edwards Crown, worn by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her coronation, and is hand-finished with a golden satin bow detail.
The St Edward Crown is probably the most important piece of the Crown Jewels in the United Kingdom and has been used to crown English and then British monarchs since the 13th century.
The current version was made for Charles II in 1661.
Our lace knitted Royal Crown Baby Shawl is in keeping with other stylised images of the crown used on coats of arms, badges, logos and various other forms to symbolise the royal authority of Queen Elizabeth II. The delicate lace knitted pattern took considerable time and attention to detail to achieve this beautifully crafted outcome.
The real Crown is on public display in the “Jewel House”, at the Tower of London.
Knitted in a lovely Ivory White shade, and presented in a Luxurious White Embossed Gift Box.
Crafted here in The Shawl Factory in Nottingham, England, using the highest quality Merino wool, with a super-soft feel it is perfect next to baby’s delicate skin. A luxurious heirloom for your family to treasure and will delight for years to come.
